Ken Leonard, USDOT ITS JPO Director Guest Lecture to Cal Poly ITS Class

The Cal Poly CE 423 Intelligent Transportation Systems class was treated to a guest lecture (Second Annual) by Ken Leonard, Director of the U.S. Department of Transportation Intelligent Transportation Systems Joint Program Office on April 27, 2016. Students had the opportunity to hear an update on ITS JPO programs and plans for the future. We look forward to the Third Annual lecture next year!

Visit to Florida Atlantic University

I was honored to present “Perspectives on Leveraging Transportation Sensor Data for System Evaluations and Performance Measurement: A Case for a Trusted Broker?” as part of the Sensing and Smart Systems Seminar Series sponsored by the Institute for Sensing and Embedded Network Systems Engineering (i-SENSE) at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida on April 14, 2016. I also had the chance to meet with faculty, and visit the Lab for Adaptive Traffic Operations & Management (LATOM), directed by Dr. Aleksandar Stevanovic. Thanks to all for the kind hospitality!


Second Annual Prefumo Canyon Bike Ride

The ITE cycling team had a successful ride up Prefumo Canyon Road and down through See Canyon to Avila Beach and back to SLO via the Bob Jones Trail on Sunday April 10, 2015. Where will we tackle next? Thanks to Alex Chambers for organizing!

Presentation at CALCOG Regional Leadership Forum

I had the great pleasure to present "Transforming Future Transportation Through Automation and Connectivity" at the California Association of Councils of Government (CALCOG) Regional Leadership Forum, "What's Transportation's Future?" in Monterey, California on April 1, 2016. It was a great event and in particular Will Kempton presented a fascinating timeline of transportation legislation, finance and action in California. Thanks to CALCOG for the invitation to speak!
